Education

Education and learning are at the heart of farm campus – from opportunities to develop farming skills, post-harvest practices, and value-added production methods, to opportunities to develop and grow a business. This education will take place within the Farm Campus community and with trusted educators – on the farm, or in a commercial kitchen or classroom in the proposed value-added production facility. The possibilities are endless—learning about sustainable practices, organic and low-chemical production methods, techniques to grow more on a smaller parcels of land,, crop production in a controlled environment, season extension, urban agriculture, food safety, production of niche and specialty crops, soil health / regenerative agriculture, responsible pesticide education, agribusiness development, and more.

“I think a farm campus could be a way to get a diverse group into agriculture and for them to actually learn it.” — Kamal Bell,  Sankofa Farms
